The article discusses a study on the effect of sodium benzoate on haematological parameters in Wistar rats. The control and sodium benzoate treated rats demonstrate significant differences in terms of hemoglobin (Hg). It is concluded that suppression of erythroid and myeloid components of bone marrow is possible by using sodium benzoate. Also noted is the possibility of secondary infections in humans and animals as sodium benzoate toxicity can cause leucopaenia. |
