This article traces the history of diagphragmatic breathing in singing. During the Victorian era, all breathing lessons were focused on the upper torso since several people believed that the diaphragm is the sole supporter of the voice when singing. It cites the lower abdominal muscles as the true supporter of the voice when singing. It notes the importance of the lower abdominal muscles in mastering the skill of dancing while singing. Particular focus is given to the proper breathing technique using the lower abdominal muscles. |
