Abstrakt: This article discusses anodic film formation. In 1896, the coating produced by an anodic oxide film on aluminum was called barrier layer coating. A patent on the use of phosphoric acid electrolytes for aluminum electroplating was established in the late 1930s. Particular focus is given to the anodizing process, along with the barrier layer theory. It notes the adverse economic impact of incorrect theory on the surface finishing industry. Also included are information on omissions from the barrier layer theory.
