Presents an interview with fiction writer Jayne Anne Phillips. When asked about her use of scars as a theme in the short story "Home," Phillips comments on the ways in which scars represent both physical and cultural trauma and healing. She also discusses the relationship between the mother and daughter depicted in the story. The historical and political nature of "Home" is also discussed and compared to public involvement in the wars in Afghanistan and Iraq. |
