Abstrakt: The article presents an examination of 18th and 19th century Métis welfare and discusses both Euro-Canadian and Métis conceptualizations of social welfare during this time period. It discusses the importance of resource-sharing between members of socio-economic networks in promoting welfare and notes that this process was a fundamental part of the relationship between Euro-Canadians and Métis people. It discusses how these relationships benefited both groups as well as how these exchanges helped the fur trade.
