Abstrakt: The article presents the case for the proposed conservation of the accustomed usage of the name cornutus. This refers to the Sumatran population of the southeast Asian species currently described as Batrachostomus javensis. It is proposed that javensis be not replaced with cornutus to make the latter avoid becoming a junior objective synonym of javensis. The Sumatran specimen which was described as cornitus is suggested to be labeled as its neotype. The new frogmouth found in Java, Indonesia that was described as Podargus javensis is regarded as the holotype and is present in the collection of the Natural History Museum.
