Abstrakt: | The article discusses female country musicians and aspects of gender, social class, and racial identity. The author reflects on the careers of musicians such as Dolly Parton, Barbara Mandrell, and Loretta Lynn in relation to their appearances and behaviors. It is suggested that female country musicians contributed to the popularity of country music through images of the U.S. South, whiteness, and southern womanhood. |
