Abstrakt: |
The article discusses the trend toward performance pay programs for teachers. Reasons cited include a perceived link between well-designed performance pay plans and improved teacher effectiveness, fairness of rewarding effective teachers, and hope of attracting more qualified applicants. Challenges cited include difficulty of monitoring teacher performance, possible negative effects of individual incentives to collaboration, and difficulty of documenting inherent multitasking in teachers' jobs. |
