The article discusses an unpublished letter of 1856 written by 19th century Italian writer and author of "L'Epistolario," Camillo Cavour, related to his participation, as a representative of the Piedmont region of Italy, in a congress on the subject of the Crimean War. Topics discussed include background on Cavour's involvement in the congress and travel from Turin to attend the congress, Cavour's activities at the congress, including negotiations with ambassadors and bankers; and the role of Italy in the congress. The text of the letter is included with the article. |
