The article offers information on the Plants Biosecurity Index (PBI), which is governed by the Biosecurity Act and the Hazardous Substances and New Organisms Act 1996 (HSNO) in New Zealand. The BPI, which entails the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry (MAF) importation standards on Seed for Sowing (SS) and Nursery Stock (NS), can be used by suppliers and importers of plants to New Zealand. It explores the plants that are and are not contained in the PBI, as well as the plant nomenclature of plant entries in the PBI. |
