The article focuses on sociospatial mutations in urban environments of former French colonial cities in Algeria, through the study of the city of Aïn-Beïda, Algeria. Topics include an overview of the activities and ways of living of native communities during the colonial period, between 1830 and 1962, the history of the urban development of Aïn-Beïda, and an examination of the neighborhood called "cité Essalem." According to the article, the urban space of Aïn-Beïda suffered from an incoherent structure, due to the sociospatial behavior of individuals. |
