The article discusses the impact of American Recovery Reinvestment Act (ARRA) to Health Information Management (HIM) in the U.S. It states that a covered entity having electronic health record (EHR) will have the right to receive an accounting of disclosures for treatment, payment and operations of protected health information (PHI) as indicated under HITECH. Moreover, patients are given rights by HITECH to obtain copies of their PHI in electronic format. |
