Report: Gestation-specific infant mortality by social and biological factors among babies born in England and Wales in 2006.

Abstrakt: The article offers statistical information on infant mortality based on gestational age as well as social and biological factors in England and Wales in 2006. Infant mortality rate accounted for 4.9 deaths per 1,000 live births during the year. About 88% of live births were born at term, 7.6% were premature and 4% were born post term. Pakistani and Caribbean ethnic groups showed higher infant mortality rates compared with the white British group.
