Abstrakt: Chapter 1 of the book "Syntactic Structure in Rimbaud's Illuminations: A Stylistic Approach to Analysis of Form in Prose Poetry" is presented. It discusses the criticisms on Rimbaud's prose poetry "Illuminations," including that of René Etiemble, W. M. Frohock and John Porter Houston. It uses the stylistic theories developed by Michael Riffaterre in the analysis. The method was proven to be an effective tool in offering a critical opinion on the nature of form in prose poetry.
