Abstrakt: The article presents a literary criticism of the book "The Three Fates," and the short story "Solo the Marionette," by Linda Lê, examining their manifestation of melancholia as defined by psychologist Sigmund Freud as the response of "an unavowable loss." Examples of both physical and psychic loss within the characters of Lê's stories are reviewed in turn.
