| Abstrakt: | The article presents genealogical research confirming the identity of the 18th century wife of Thomas Hinckley of Harwich, Massachusetts. Details are given describing his death on Cape Cod in 1710, leaving a young widow, Mercy, who soon remarried. Two of Hinckley's siblings married children of Jonathan Bangs, who also had a daughter named Mercy, born 1682, for whom no marriage had been found. Further research confirms that Hinckley's wife was, indeed, the same Mercy Bangs. |
