The article focuses on the integration of women sailors into the submarine fleet of the U.S. Navy. It mentions that upon approval of integration plans, female seniors at the Naval Academy or in the Naval Reserve Officers' Training Corps. will be chosen to be included in four crews assigned to two submarines come late 2011. Admiral John Harvey notes that the first women sailors to be assigned to the submarine fleet will be junior officers. Harvey and Vice Admiral Jay Donnelly admit that the integration will be complex due to manning and berthing factors. |
