Abstrakt: |
The article presents a study that optimized a hydrodynamic tool for the design of a modern container ship using variable fidelity models (VFM). A definition of an objective function comparing the merit of various designs is needed in order to perform hydrodynamic design optimization. VFM is used to decrease the computational cost linked with the assessment of high fidelity flow simulations in the optimization of hull forms. A diagram showing conventional optimization and variable fidelity optimization is presented. |
