Abstrakt: The article discusses the ways to avoid bias and erroneous results in epidemiological observational studies. It reports the problems associated with following randomization in observational studies, and discusses various sources which may lead to biased results including information and selection bias. It gives an overview of the causes and impact of bias, and mentions countermeasures for them. Also discussed are the errors caused due to bias including measurement errors.
