The article discusses the delayed payment of almost 150 days of 1.3 billion dollars by the Illinois budget banks in paying its Medicaid, the state-federal program for the poor, elderly, disabled and the youth. The delay affects the Medicaid providers that do not purchase the federal stimulus package. According to the Department of Healthcare and Family Services, the Prompt Payment Act requires Medicaid bills should be paid within 60 days or else a one percent interest fee is being added monthly. |
