The article describes the patronage of H. H. Nawab Mir Mahboob Ali Khan, the sixth Nizam of Hyderabad, of photographers and studios in India. It highlights the photographs drawn from the Chowmahalla Palace Collection (CPC) which are said to have reflected the artistic and technical developments in early photography in Deccan and showed the formal and public character of the ruler. Stories affirming the Indian prince's passion and pursuit of the medium were recalled, such as one about the Nizam's journey through the Himalayas during his second expedition in 1946. Also detailed were the Nizam's photographs and portraits from infantry to teenage and those with his friends like Sir Afsar-Yar-Jung and Mehboob-Yar-Jung. |
