Abstrakt: The article discusses the Connecticut constitutional convention of 1818 and a debate regarding the federal judiciary known as "Federalist 78." The author states that this judiciary is considered the most influential commentary arguing in favor of an independent judiciary with life tenure. The changes resulting from the convention of 1818 are talked about, including the creation of a separate judicial branch of government characterized by "good behavior" tenure. The article also discusses the background of the 1818 Convention and the Connecticut judiciary before the 1818 constitution.
