The biennial symposium of the Education, Research and Development Group (ERDG) of the New Zealand Association of Orthodontists (NZAO) was held in Queenstown on August 17 and 18, 2007. Following a well-tested format, the symposium considered the effects of expansion of the dental arches in the three planes of space and over time, a timely but difficult topic given the current fashion to avoid the extraction of teeth to correct dental crowding.
