Abstrakt: A reprint of the article "T. Gilbert Pearson: Young Ornithologist in Florida," by Oliver H. Orr which was published in the October 1983 issue of "The Florida Historical Quarterly" is presented. It describes how wildlife conservationist T. Gilbert Pearson's interest in birds and wildlife led him to persuade the legislature to empower the Audubon Society of North Carolina to secure the legal rights of birds and to enforce the state's bird and game laws. The society, which was founded by Pearson, became the first state game commission in the South.
