The article focuses on Catherine Cook Mabry who took care of the family farm and her 10 sons and 2 daughters after the murder of her husband west of Shiloh, Louisiana in 1885. She and William Pierce Mabry reportedly travelled to the state in a dog cart pulled by oxen and established their farm to be a part of the Mt. Olive Settlement. It is stated that Mabry sold the property upon reaching advanced years and lived the remainder of her life with her children and grandchildren. |
