Abstrakt:	The author presents an opinion piece on the relations between stressful life events and adolescents' experiences of identity crisis in an increasingly globalized world. The author discusses the psychological aspects of the ways in which identity crises can be formative to the adult development of adolescents. Further comments are made concerning psychological developments to be found in adolescents from the Western Hemisphere, such as hyper-sexuality or the prolonging of adolescent lifestyles.
