The article discusses the approaches to the management of malignant peritoneal surface disease (PSD) including the cytoreductive surgery (CS) and hyperthermic intraperitoneal chemotherapy (HIPEC). It was stated that a cytoreduction technique must precede the HIPEC in order to optimize the treatment. It cites several drugs that have been utilized as an adjunct to CS for the treatment of malignant peritoneal mesothelioma (MPM). Also noted are the reasons for gathering information on the Health Related Quality of Life (HRQOL) in the context of HIPEC. |
