Abstrakt: The article focuses on the Ibsen's "Peer Gynt" which draws on Scandinavian myths and folklore in Europe. It explores the possible reading of Peer Gynt in the light of several iconographies of the pre-Christian cult of Mithras being practised in the West. It focuses on the reindeer ride of Peer, his adventure into the cave in Dovre Mountains. Also presented a brief information of Mithraism, knowing its origin whether it was a pagan religion, a cult or an oriental which originated in the eastern part of the Roman Empire.
