The article discusses the decision of the University of North Carolina (UNC) in Chapel Hill to lessen the consumption of its potable water by 25 percent through the application of retrofit system. Factors that influence the university's decision include environmental stewardship, reliability and draught, storm water compliance, cost, and state regulations. Upon completion of the construction phases, potable water use will be reduced by 50 percent which is a great cost-saving initiative for the UNC. |
