A chapter from the book "Hispanic Periodicals in the United States, Origins to 1960: A Brief History and Comprehensive Bibliography" is presented. It explores the history of Mexican newspapers in Texas and their role in representing the interests of the native Mexican population in Texas. It highlights the efforts of militant journalist Catarino E. Garza to fight for Mexican immigrant rights. It also discusses the establishment of the "El Imparcial de Texas" newspaper by Francisco A. Chapa to promote electoral activism among Mexican Americans. |
