The article presents several documents on the involvement of Romania in rapprochement between the United States and China from 1969 to 1971. Former U.S. President Richard Nixon's historic visit to Bucharest, Romania, in 1969 is discussed. The meeting between Romanian Prime Minister Ion Gheorghe Maurer and Chinese Premier Zhou Enlai in 1969 is also reviewed. Documents presented include telegrams from Romanian ambassador Aurel Duma to foreign minister Coneliu Manescu and a telegram from Romanian Charge D'Affaires Ion Dorobantu to Corneliu Manescu. |
