Abstrakt: The article discusses the history of the Cow Hollow Park area in Nyssa, Oregon, focusing on archaeological test excavations. Cow Hollow was settled in the early 1800s by fur traders seeking alternatives to crossing Snake River. The author notes that the area was also used as the site of internment camps for Japanese-Americans during World War II. Results from excavations of Cow Hollow are reviewed. U.S. President Franklin Delano Roosevelt's Civilian Conservation Corps program is discussed, including the reaction of organized labor unions.
