The article discusses how the picture book "Armando and the Blue Tarp School," has been used in teaching English reading and writing among children. It also follows the process of how the book was inspired and written and features the life of poor Mexican students who cannot afford to go to school. It discusses the efforts of the organization in which the author is part of, to teach proper reading and writing in the area, led by David Lynch. The article also adds that this book is a nominee for the 2009-2010 California Young Reader Medal. |
