The article focuses on the land lease called in parallel, created by the Western and Crown Lands Amendment (Special Purpose Leases) Act 2008 in New South Wales (NSW). A proposal for 500 turbine wind farm for Silverton near Broken Hill will generate up to 1,000 megawatts of electricity and supply 4.5 per cent of the state's energy demand. The Bill is said to allow the wind farm proponents to hold a single and secure form of tenure directly from the state in the form of a special purpose lease. |
