The article presents a study on 15th century pilgrimage reports by Swiss Dominican theologian Felix Fabri. It is noted that the article was inspired by an academic dissertation project that was completed in 2007 at the University of Kassel, Germany. Fabri's writings are examined and comments are made concerning his views on the practice of Islam in 15th century Europe. Concepts of foreignness and familiarity in Fabri's reports are discussed, and it is noted that travel writing can represent a cultural self-representation of the writer. |
