Abstrakt: The article proposes a novel distributed strain measurement technique which can measure strain distribution along fiber Bragg gratings (FBG) in an optical fiber. The FBG sensors were developed based on optical frequency domain reflectometry (OFDR) system. They can be used for quasi-distributed sensing along an optical fiber. They can also be used for monitoring deformation and assessing the stiffness of a structural member or the whole structure. However, a local perturbation in a stress distribution is generated by an initial damage.
