Abstrakt: A section of Part 111 of the book "Recovering the U. S. Hispanic Literary Heritage," Volume III, edited by María Herrera-Sobek and Virginia Sánchez Korrol is presented. It explores several missionaries brought by Spanish authorities in order to convert native American population to Roman Catholicism. It highlights the components of inculturation, as well as Franciscan ethnographic writings in the 17th-century in the U.S.
