Abstrakt: The article recounts an anecdote about the author's attempts to attend a session of the Iowa assembly. After being nominated as a representative of several Iowa territories, the author was forced to travel to the assembly in Iowa City on muleback. He details the difficulties that he encountered on his travels, including poorly marked trails, no general state highway system, and a large distance between settlements and other places to gather supplies. The voyage to the Sixth General Assembly in 1856 is detailed.
