The article discusses the diagnosis and treatment of a firm right maxillofacial swelling and right eye (OD) epiphora with dermal tear staining of a 7-month-old, male/neutered, Great Dane dog. Successful exfoliation of all deciduous teeth, a plaque index, and absence of the maxillary right canine tooth were revealed on oral examination. The gingival opening was occupied by proliferative reddened soft tissue. Odontoma is said to be a rare benign differential diagnosis in young dogs. |
