Abstrakt: The article focuses on the history of radio station WOI out of Ames, Iowa during the period from 1921 to 1940. The station was constructed by the engineering department at Iowa State College under the supervision of engineer Harmon B. Deal with the assistance of engineering student A. G. Woolfries, who later became chief announcer at the station. The first broadcast was on November 21, 1921 and the call letters were assigned by the Radio Division of the U.S. Department of Commerce in April 1922. The article also discusses the radio station's programming, its wattage and area of coverage, and its personnel.
