Abstrakt: The article discusses the meaning of names of places in Des Moines County, Iowa. The Clark school and district were named for settler Benjamin W. Clarke. Crapo Park in Burlington, Iowa was named after Philip M. Crapo, a park commissioner. The township of Danville, Iowa may have been named for a village in Illinois, residents of which relocated to Iowa. Dolbee Creek in the Yellow Spring Township was named for settler John S. Dolbee. The Flint Hills in Burlington were named due to their mineral composition.
