The article presents a short graphical history of a mostly Jewish and entirely anarchist Stelton Colony's Modern School in New Jersey. It says that the Modern School, active from 1911 to 1953, was a radical experiment in libertarian elementary school education in which children were not even compelled to attend class. It notes that the school, organized by the anarchist Ferrer Association, was operated and attended largely by recent Jewish immigrants from Eastern Europe. |
