The focus of the article is to present an analysis of verse 20 of the epic poem "Cantar de Mio Cid," comparing it to verses 992-993 of Chrétien de Troyes' "Perceval." In both texts, the authors make reference to the "good vassal" and to an authority figure. The article continues on with an analysis of the "Señor" from verse 20, giving a structural answer to the question of whether or not it refers to King Alfonso VI of Spain. It concludes that the verse was referencing the king and that the verse is a starting-point for the text. |
