Abstrakt: A profile of novelist, poet and scholar Sheila Ortiz-Taylor is presented. Ortiz-Taylor's first novel "Faultline" in 1982 is considered as to be the first lesbian novel with a Chicana hero. In the late 1990s, she continued to work for change by fighting the discrimination experienced by her and her partner concerning housing in a retirement community in Florida. She spent much of her literary career making a place for Latina lesbians.
