The outcome of this study showed that therapeutic laser treatment was effective in a short time and still stable after one year in patients with an arthrogenous origin of craniomandibular pain. The maximum, mouth opening increased significantly within four days of treatment (P < 0.001). Although unsuccessful pre-laser treatment time through several professions ranged from 6 to 66 months, a total relief of pain was found in 80% of the arthrogenous patients after a mean period of six days. Further studies have to be developed regarding infrared laser therapy in patients with a myogenous origin of pain, and to compare the effect of various durations of exposure. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR] |
