Abstrakt: Comprehensive diagnosis is a key to successful temporomandibular joint (TMJ) treatment. Intracapsular diagnosis with arthrotomography can provide essential information about intracapsular derangements, degenerative processes, and soft tissue changes due to trauma remodeling, or systemic disease. The effects these changes have on function can be observed. In this article these changes have been organized into diagnostic categories, which wherever possible are graded by progression. Diagnostic criteria are developed for each disorder, and radiographic examples provided. The clinical signs and symptoms are presented where they are pathognomonic. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
