| Abstrakt: | An encyclopedia entry for the opera "Faust" is presented. The opera was composed by Charles Gounod and its librettists after Goethe were Jules Barbier and Michel Carré. It was first performed at the Théâtre-Lyrique on March 19, 1859 and was revised for recitatives in April 1860 and for ballet on March 3, 1869. Characters of the opera include Faust, Mephistopheles and Marguerite. |
