Abstrakt: The article discusses a court case wherein several defendants were charged with contempt by the U.S. Congress. The trials were held in Washington, D.C., from 1948 to 1950. The defendants were Alvah Bessie, Herbert Biberman, Lester Cole, Edward Dmytryk, Ring Lardner, Jr., John Howard Lawson, Albert Maltz, Sam Ornitz, Robert Adrian Scott and Dalton Trumbo. They were found guilty and received sentences of imprisonment and fines.
