| Abstrakt: | The article discusses the petition filed by Mitsuye Endo called a writ of habeas corpus asking the U.S. courts to rule on whether she could be held indefinitely as a prisoner without being accused, tried, or convicted of a crime. Endo was among the thousands of Japanese Americans who were evacuated from their homes under the War Relocation Authority authorized by President Franklin D. Roosevelt. It relates the ruling issued by Justice William O. Douglas on the petition of Endo. |
