The article presents information on a study which investigated the effects of vitamin C on the metabolic responses that support adaptive stress response in chickens stressed by ACTH. It notes that physiological stress is defined as an array of responses aimed at ensuring survival, followed by adaptation to the stressful condition. It explains the suppression of adrenocortical steroidogenesis by vitamin C. It also explores the increased levels of glucose and total protein in control group after ACTH administration. |
